Nicky Haslam
Den brittiske superexcentrikern och über-snobben Nicky Haslam släpper i dagarna i sina memoarer Redeeming Features. Garanterat ett lyckat köp om du är på jakt efter något skvallrigt snaskigt att läsa under julen.
“He lives on a diet of champagne, gin, sea breezes and party canapés, though his food of choice is processed cheese sandwiches made with white, sliced Kingsmill bread – he likes the way his teeth leave little indentations in the bread. He never drinks wine, because it’s bad for him, although champagne is good. ‘I suppose I drink too much,’ he says airily. ‘But if I was going to be a drunk I’d be one by now.’ He smokes ‘about 44′ Royals a day and snorts cocaine politely when the occasion demands. He tried his first E the other day and loved it, but he is not a great drug user. He is never ill because he believes in Lady Diana Cooper’s maxim that being ill is ‘common. Jet lag is common too, and so are tomatoes, anyone Scottish, the Caribbean, tassled loafers, celebrity chefs, bottled water, swans, queueing outside Annabel’s, organic food, sushi, Saint Tropez, loving your parents … the list could have expanded to fill the entire hour.”
